Bot Colony cinematic trailer March 20, 2009 built from Henry Fong's paintings with 'film within a film' Nakagawa adverts and Ogata (Japanese actor) giving the player the mission (note to Kalman, Radu: HD newmix - this is the best quality video file 7 years ago, original was SD 9 years ago)
First Bot Colony prototype unveiled at GDC San Francisco ( March 25, 2009), used our in-house Anitron engine. Then, you used your pda to call a hovercraft and flew it to destinations in the island.
Bot Colony 2010 E3 demo ( June 10, 2010 Los Angeles ), darker style world design by Snezhan Bodurov.
Don't miss seeing Mike's ancestor in action. Mike is the rail-sliding baggage robot in Arrival. He didn't always work like that :)
Bot Colony MIGS Tech Demo November 13, 2012 - still on old Anitron engine. Glen Ozymok, the architect of Anitron, our in-house game engine, had tragically died on August 10, 2011. Anitron died with him. The switch to Havok is announced here.
Bot Colony tech demo Jan 2, 2013 - still on old inhouse Anitron engine. A fairly detailed demo focusing on language understanding.
Ogata is back more than 3 years later in this Nakagawa dramatization, introducing the mission to remotely control the robot to erase traces of the intrusion ( Nov 20, 2012).
A first glimpse at the Vision engine used for rendering.
Bot Colony is about realistic interactions with robots (we use 'real' software to process 'real' conversation). It's hard to get more robotic than this (July 12, 2013).
The language understanding in Bot Colony was built to be generic. We were (and still are!) very interested in the potential for Bot Colony robots to act as intelligent assistants for players in everyday life (Ferbruary 8, 2013). Havok Vision is now integrated with the language pipeline, but we're not yet loading the game.
Bot Colony game trailer (August 16, 2013) - by then we'd completed the switch to the Havok engine. We sold Bot Colony off our website initially until getting greenlit on Steam.
Bot Colony dev diaries June 16, 2014 - Robot Visual Memories prototype was also published when the game was launched on Steam. The investigation shown is in a very 'prototype' stage. It took a lot of work to get it to work well.
