You can think of Bot Colony as an English-speaking country, where everybody speaks English. You can practice your spoken English with the characters, who’ll be delighted to converse with you. If you want to practice your written English, just type. And you don’t need a plane ticket, visa or passport to visit.
Instead of doing boring exercises, you practice English in an everyday-life setting. The game tasks involve travel, ordering food or drinks, getting a hotel room, shopping, attending a show, trading and negotiation, fixing things, and even talking about feelings.
Here’s how this works:

• Improve your pronunciation; when you say something to a character, the transcription of what you said – what the character understood you said – will be typed, like a subtitle in a movie. If it is not what you intended to say, you can keep trying until the character understands you.
• Improve your written English (you will type instead of speaking, and your spelling will be corrected)
• The characters will give you feedback, based on the mistakes YOU tend to make, when you make them. (“Did you mean X?”)
• When a character understands you, he/she will answer your question, or do the action you require; indeed, it’s like being in an English speaking country and speaking to native English speakers.

With Bot Colony, it’s like getting your own private tutor, who corrects your mistakes as soon as you make them, in immersive game situations. Today, you cannot practice this kind of interactive conversation with any other online teaching method because computers don’t yet understand people (except ours). When you talk to the characters in Bot Colony, they understand you, so two-way conversation becomes possible.
